Hundreds of volunteers work NWA Championship



The Northwest Arkansas Championship is sponsored by household names. But it’s powered by people like Renee Whitely.”I love the game and it’s just a lot of fun,” said Whitely.Renee is a volunteer at the golf tournament. Today, she’s working the registration booth. Tonight, she’s hosting a pro golfer.”It’s really kind of fun when they stay with you, and you learn about the game, and you know you’re helping them out,” said Whitely. “And you get to follow somebody you never knew before.”This week, Whitely will be following Maude LeBlanc. She’s the pro player from Montreal, Canada who’s now staying with Whitely.”We met for the first time last night,” said LeBlanc. “She lives very close to the course which is convenient for us.”LeBlanc will be living in Whitely’s home throughout the tournament.”Not only does it save a lot of money for us but it also feels more homey, more comfortable than a hotel room and less lonely for sure,” said LeBlanc.This is Renee’s ninth year as a volunteer and she said she plans on doing it again next year.
